Dermal fillers are used to correct wrinkles, laugh lines, brow furrows, crow’s feet and tear troughs with remarkable precision. They will effortlessly restore lost volume and plumpness, something that surgery cannot always achieve. For many patients, dermal fillers represent a safe, non-invasive alternative to the incisions, anaesthesia and longer recovery times associated with traditional cosmetic operations, and they have therefore become increasingly popular and in demand worldwide. By softening, reducing, and occasionally eliminating fine lines and wrinkles due to muscle action. These substances can be natural or synthetic. The most common type of filler used today is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in our body and plays an important role in water metabolism, giving the skin volume and fullness.
Hyaluronic dermal fillers are based on hyaluronic acid that correct facial imperfections, compensate for volume, emphasise certain areas of the face. They are minimally invasive and that is why they are so popular in facial rejuvenation in Džepina Clinic.
The advantage of this type of procedure is easy application and fast recovery, the procedure is simple, and the results are excellent. To have the best results surgeon’s experience as well as the quality of fillers are very important. While it may seem simple to inject a needle into a wrinkle, administering dermal fillers is far more complex, as it must be done in such a way that preserves facial expression and spontaneity. Based on the problem that needs to be corrected Dr. Džepina will inform what type of filler is best suited to you. Synthetic fillers are produced in the laboratory and do not exist in our body. Although these substances are of artificial origin, they are biocompatible and do not cause a reaction in the body. Aquamid is a synthetic filler that is often used in Croatia, and its advantage is its long-lasting effect.
As long as person is above the age of 18, they can be appropriate candidates for dermal filler injections if they are unhappy about the signs of premature ageing. No gender restrictions apply, and both women and men are equally decent candidates. Fillers are also an excellent option for candidates who are bothered by specific problem areas that do not extend to the rest of the face. For instance, a candidate may want to smooth the nasolabial folds, but does not feel they are extreme enough to warrant a facelift surgery.
Dermal fillers are injected with very fine needles or cannulas into the areas that have to be corrected. Dr. Džepina uses proven methods of injecting the selected filler in an amount that is in accordance with the patient’s wishes and recommendations. Depending on the number of areas being addressed, the extent of the procedure, the type of filler and the area of the face, patients are given local anaesthesia or anaesthetic cream before the procedure. Filler treatment is quick, easy and does not require special recovery, only precautions for the operated area.
The advantage of hyaluronic fillers is that they completely disappear from the body in a natural way without traces. Permanent implants and fillers remain in the body. Patients who are not sure whether they want a rejuvenation procedure with Botox or a filler will get all the information during consultation with Dr Džepina. Botox is a cosmetic injectable treatment that enhances youthful beauty by softening, reducing, and occasionally eliminating fine lines and wrinkles due to muscle action, while hyaluronic dermal filler is used mostly for natural volume filling. Some patients choose a combination of these two methods to achieve the best effect to address their aesthetic desires.
Cosmetic injectables are treatments that can enhance beauty and restore youthfulness with minimal or no downtime. These rapid and effective aesthetic treatments play an invaluable role in the hierarchy of cosmetic plastic surgery, albeit without surgery. Advancements in the technology of injectables and fillers have considerably improved the efficacy of these products over the years.
The application of fillers is individual, it depends on each patient and the problem that needs to be corrected. The price depends on the type of preparation, the amount of filler and area of application.
Džepina Clinic offers its patients several payment methods tailored to their needs. The price of hyaluronic and other dermal fillers, as well as all cosmetic surgery procedures is in the price list of the Džepina Clinic.

OTHER DERMAL FILLERS
Aquamid is a filler that integrates with your own tissue and gives a natural look and feel. It consists of 97.5% water and 2.5% polyacrylamide, which is why it is a neutral hydrogel that allows constant water exchange. It is extremely soft in composition, cannot be seen or felt, is not absorbed and remains permanently at the site of application. It is in natural harmony with the body and is characterised by the chemical stability of polyacrylamide which is the main ingredient of this filler. Due to the size of the molecule itself, there is no movement in the tissues or enzymatic degradation so it is safe and stable.
Aquamid has been extensively tested in preclinical and clinical studies with a follow-up period of 2 – 9 years, and studies show that Aquamid in tissues is surrounded by a thin layer of connective tissue that allows metabolism and energy (primarily water). There is no hardening or capsule formation, so the results are very “soft” and natural.
Patients who opt for Aquamid in Džepina Clinic want a long-lasting aesthetic correction that gives volume, affects the contour and reconstruction of the soft tissues of the face and body. Aquamid is not recommended for the correction of fine wrinkles around the eyes, horizontal furrows on the forehead, in the case of earlier application of a permanent filler and the application of a resorptive filler within 6-12 months. Breast and genital area are also not desirable locations. New injections can be given after the shortest period of two weeks, until there is a maximum interval.
Aquamid is intended for filling the volume of the lips, remodelling of the cheeks, enlarging the chin, correcting the nasolabial folds and the corner of the mouth, deep facial wrinkles. It can also be successfully used for the correction of deformities after rhinoplasty or other surgical procedures and facial lipoatrophy, ie fat loss. It is also used in reconstructive and aesthetic correction of congenital or traumatic deformities, deformities after liposuction, scar revision.
Dr. Džepina will advise the patients about the possibilities of the application of fillers and other methods in order to achieve the best possible rejuvenating effect. Some treatments such as Botox, dermabrasion, peeling, epilation, tattoos, aesthetic dental procedures, lasers and other similar treatments can cause an inflammatory skin reaction. That is why it is important not to do such procedures for 6 months before and after the Aquamid injection. Aquamid should not be applied to the site of a previously placed permanent implant, and it is also not recommended to place a permanent implant in the area of already applied Aquamid.
Temporary redness, pain, swelling and itching may occur after injection of Aquamid. It is recommended to avoid sunbathing, solarium, saunas as well as cold wind 4 weeks after treatment. After that, it is necessary to protect the skin with a protective sunscreen. It is advised to avoid taking non-steroidal analgesics and acetylsalicylic acid preparations (Aspirin, Andol) for the first few days after the procedure due to the increased risk of bleeding (hematoma) at the site of application.
